Updated 2022 NBA Championship Odds

The NBA is a massively unique sport for a number of different reasons. One of the biggest is that it can completely change in a matter of weeks. Because the games come thick and fast, big changes to the standings are often on the horizon. Even other sports that keep games coming fast, don’t tend to change as much as the NBA. With that being said, we’ve taken a look at the latest standings to give our opinion on what could go down between now and the finals.

Current NBA Standings and Odds

As we have already said, the NBA changes all of the time. It’s one of the most fluid sports leagues in the world. This combined with the fast-paced excitement of the game itself, make it hugely exciting for viewers, players and bettors alike. So, take a quick look at the current favorites to take home the Championship.

NBA Favorites – Phoenix Suns +380

The Suns made it all the way to the finals last year. They’re currently sitting pretty at the top of the Western Conference. After finishing second in the Conference last time out, going in one position better will fill them with confidence going into the playoffs.

Golden State Warriors +450

The Warriors aren’t that all-conquering team that they used to be. That trio of KD, Curry, and Thompson was unstoppable for a few years. However, Curry is still that player. On top of that, Thompson has just made his return from a severe achilles injury. The Warriors aren’t in as good form as the Suns right now, but their big players are hitting their stride just at the right time.

Brooklyn Nets +475

The Nets are in a terrible run of form right now. They’ve won 3 of their last 10. It means they have fallen right down the rankings. Despite this, the Nets are still high up on the favorites list due to the pure quality they have on their roster. KD, Simmons and Irving are all elite level players. Even after trading out James Harden, the Nets are still looking strong. As long as they make the playoffs, the Nets are in with a chance of winning.

Philadelphia 76ers +700

The 76ers are sitting third in the Eastern Conference at the moment. They are 2 games behind the Bulls but with 2 games in hand. Although both teams have a 6-4 record over the last 10 games, the 76ers are in better form. The Bulls have lost their last 2 while the 76ers have won their last 3. The trade of James Harden to Philly has had an instant impact and makes the 76ers definite challengers.

Milwaukee Bucks +750

The Bucks aren’t looking as strong as the last few seasons. There are mitigating factors though. Injuries have decimated the Bucks squad at times this season. In fact, it’s almost been like Giannis has had to play alone in some games. The fact they have managed to stay in 4th despite this says a lot. If the Bucks get back to full strength for the playoffs, they will be a match for anyone.

Miami Heat +1,000

This may seem strange that the Heat is so low down. They are sitting on top of the Eastern Conference right now. It means they have a good shot at making the finals. They’re on a 4 game winning streak and have a 9-1 record in the last 10. The Heat also have a very deep roster. Perhaps not as many superstars as other teams, but quality everywhere. They could surprise a few and win it all this season.

NBA Teams on the Rise

Form is always a good indicator of who might do well in the playoffs. Lots of sports are confidence-based. Basketball is no different. If a team is on a good run then they’re always one to look out for in the postseason.

Miami Heat

The Heat are a team in great form at the moment. On a 4 game winning streak and 9-1 in the last 10 makes them the in-form team. They also have the longest odds of any team near the top of the standings. The Heat are without a doubt one of the best shouts for the finals currently.

Denver Nuggets

Sitting 6th in the Western Conference, this might be a strange call. However, the Nuggets have won 6 on the bounce. They’re also 8-2 in their last 10. It might be too late in the season to make a play for the top spot. A good run of form going into the playoffs will bode well for the Nuggets though.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns are sitting pretty at the top of the Western Conference. They’re 8-2 in their last 10 and have the best overall record in the whole NBA. It goes without saying, they are looking strong coming into the playoffs. Whether they can keep it up remains to be seen, but they are certainly making it look likely.

NBA Teams on the Fall

Just as there are teams in form, there are teams out of form as well. If you’re looking to get a bet with high odds, these are the teams you should avoid.

Golden State Warriors

This might sound like a strange call. Especially with the Warriors sitting in second in the Western Conference. However, over the last 10 games, the Warriors have a 5-5 record. It’s the worst record of the top 2 in either conference. It shows that they can still be plagued by inconsistency. However, it would be dangerous to write them off completely, especially with Curry and Thompson on their roster.

Charlotte Hornets

This is a team you should avoid like the plague. Although you can likely get odds of around +475 for them to make the playoffs, their current form means that is likely to be wasted money. They’re 2-8 over the last 10 and are on a 2 game losing streak. They’re at +30,000 to win the finals at the moment. That means that if you bet a dollar on the Hornets, you’ll lose a dollar.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets are on a terrible run at the moment. They’re 3-7 in their last 10, but if you stretch it to their last 20 that turns into 5-15. If they can turn it around before the playoffs then they are still in the running, but right now the Nets look like a losing bet any way you view it.

Dark Horse NBA Bets

A dark horse is always something that a lot of people like to go for. A wager where you can put a smaller stake on than usual, for a bigger potential payout. Here are our two dark horse picks based on current odds.

Miami Heat

We know what you’re thinking. The Heat are at the top of the Eastern Conference, how are they a dark horse? Well, you just have to look at the odds. The Heat are getting +1000 odds, which makes them a dark horse. It means that sportsbooks don’t think the Heat have much of a chance. However, the Heat are confounding expectations right now. Can they keep it up? Who knows. But, with those odds available they are a perfect dark horse choice.

Chicago Bulls

This is another strange one because they’re second in the Eastern Conference. The thing is, the Bulls odds are even more impressive. You can get +3,000 on the Bulls at the moment. Those are definitely solid odds for a team in such a high position. If the Heat don’t whet your appetite, then the Bulls should be your dark horse pick.

Our NBA Championship Pick

It’s always hard to pick an outright winner. Especially as anything can happen in Basketball. However, there is one team that looks like it has the potential to go all the way at the moment.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns are looking the strongest right now. They have the best overall win record in the NBA for starters. While Chris Paul looks to be out for a while, he should be back in time for the playoffs. Meaning that the Suns will be at full strength going into the postseason. This is why we think the Suns can go one better this year.
